Planning Task 5 : Photography Planning

Who will you be using as your models for each photograph?

My models from my photography will be myself (February edition) alongside a few of my peers, one (for my January edition) representing a different ethnicity; for my website’s linked page I have chosen to photograph one of the art a level students alongside their fashion design work, to indicate my magazine’s goals to showcase new & upcoming designers.

What thought needs to be given to the following elements of mise-en-scene?

Location: For my January edition, I’m thinking of either having a winter theme (which would be an exterior shoot, during the colder weather) or a New Years themed shoot which would be interior shoot, in the guise of being at a “happy new years” party

For my February edition, I will have an interior shoot, inside of a local cafe; creating the guise of a cute date setting, the inside of the cafe itself has a very heavy pink & floral colouring theme, therefore suiting a ‘galentines” type theme for my front cover

For my website’s main image, I will have an exterior shoot outside of some local charity shops in my area, indicating the sustainable nature of my magazine

For my website’s linked page image, I will have an interior shoot alongside a fashion display, mimicking an exhibition

Costume?
For my January edition, I will have my model wearing a large puffer jacket to indicate the cold weather; alongside this other items that indicate wrapping up warm e.g. a scarf, ear muffs & some gloves

For my February edition, I will be wearing a black top & matching skirt underneath a red leather jacket, as if dressing for a date, due to my magazine’s Valentine’s Day theme; the colour red signifying love

For my website photography (in particular the linked page) the model will be wearing business retire, reflecting being within a professional “exhibition” environment

Props?

My January edition will have props that reflect the cold weather, such as a mug to indicate having a warm beverage & if I decide to go with the New Years theme a party hat & a pair of ‘Happy New Year’ comical glasses

My February edition will feature me holding a rose; the symbol of love & a popular flower given on Valentines Day

My website’s linked page photography will feature a makeshift barrier in front of the art (fashion) board to create the sense of being within an exhibition, protecting the art

Body language of model?

The body language of my January cover model will be celebratory, as if excited to welcome in the New Year, with her arms raised in a cheering pose, thumbs up

The body language of my February edition will be positioned to draw attention to the rose in my hand i.e. looking down at it

The body language of my linked page will represent a formal stature, posing with their arms crossed at their front to draw attention to them (when in front of their art board) or to the board (when positioned beside it)

Lighting?

The lighting for my January cover will be cool toned, to represent the colder weather

The lighting for my February front cover will be warm toned natural lighting

My website photography will be bright, as if being taken inside of the offices of my magazine

Who will be taking my photography?

I will be taking my own photography on my iphone 11, so that I have full creative control over what each image looks like, except for my February front cover where I will be modelling, in which I will enlist one of my friends to take the photos under my direction

For my audiovisual element of my website I wrote a script for an interview I'd film of one of my friends for their upcoming fashion collection
