Production Log Two: Front Cover Editing

For my first front cover I initially began by adding my magazine's logo and strapline, along with the date of the edition and price, key elements which make up a magazine front cover

Afterwards, I decided to add my main coverline to the centre of the cover, in a distinctive cover in a different colour to stand out amongst the rest of the text on the cover
I also added a barcode, the key feature of a magazine front cover

From there I played around with the colouring of the image, wanting to make something cooler toned to replicate the winter theme of the issue, as the photography itself was taken in Autumn and had a warmer natural lighting

It was here I decided to chain my main front cover image, preferring the off to the side look instead of straight at the camera, however, I will have my other front cover photography looking at the camera, to create direct gaze, attempting to draw people to pick up the magazine

Here I made some minor final adjustments, such as changing the bottom text to include content plugs, moving the barcode up a little as well as the main headline

finished front cover 1 (after final tweaking)

Front cover 2 editing
